In March and April, companies have introduced new products ranging from an endodontics chair to new toothpastes and more. Here is our monthly roundup of new products from companies such as Philips Sonicare, Sanofi, Boyd Industries, and others.

Endodontics

Boyd launches endodontic chair

Boyd Industries launched the M3100LC, a new chair designed specifically for endodontic procedures. The chair has a memory foam winged back and can lift patients up to 500 lb. The M3100LC also has several positioning features, including the following:

  • A swiveling base that can lock into place once a patient is in position
  • Control switches on both sides and the back of the chair
  • The ability for practitioners to program three preset chair positions

Hygiene

Edalu debuts disposable bib

Edalu Products introduced TapKin, a disposable bib with an integrated strap and adhesive tab. The bib can be put on patients in a single motion using the product's single strap and adhesive tab. The straps can be attached to different areas of the bib to accommodate patients of various sizes.

The bib may help reduce cross-contamination by eliminating the need for reusable chains. The product may also help practices avoid costs related to reusable chains, disposable bib holders, and sterilization and sanitation procedures, according to the company.

GSK adds to ProNamel toothpaste line

GSK Consumer Healthcare launched its new ProNamel Strong & Bright enamel-protecting and whitening toothpaste.

The new toothpaste contains fluoride to strengthen and protect enamel, and removes stains and limits enamel wear during toothbrushing by using controlled abrasivity silicas, according to the company. It is available in two flavors: mint and extra fresh.

Philips Sonicare debuts 2 new products

Philips Sonicare introduced a new smart toothbrush and a breath care system.

The DiamondClean Smart toothbrush has built-in smart sensor technology and offers personalized coaching. The Sonicare Breath care system includes a connected breath analyzer, which helps patients improve their breath and oral care habits. Both products sync with the Philips Sonicare app.

Sanofi launches new toothpaste

Sanofi Consumer Healthcare launched a new fluoride toothpaste for children.

ACT Kids toothpaste is for children age 2 and older. It is available in two flavors: bubble gum and fruit punch. It will be available at retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Walgreens.

MouthWatch releases Android software

Dental technology company MouthWatch released new software that allows tablets and Android phones to be used as a case presentation tool.

The company's ExamTab software can now be downloaded from the Google Play store. The software allows live video and image captures, and patient management information can be accessed from an Android tablet when combined with the company's intraoral camera. The software requires that a phone or tablet is using Android software version 4.4 or later and a USB 2.0 port for the camera.

Restoratives

Brasseler launches new burs, titanium probes

Dental and surgical instrument manufacturer Brasseler USA launched a new line of diamond burs and refinement instruments and also added titanium probes to its ImplantPro line of products.

The Winter Restorative Concepts line was designed by Robert Winter, DDS. The line includes depth-limited diamond burs (three-tiered anterior burs, two-tiered posterior burs, and depth-limiting collar diamonds), shoulder diamond burs, and shoulder margin refinement instruments.

The ImplantPro titanium probes feature precise, black markings on a smooth surface and can be used on implants and natural dentition, according to Brasseler. The new probes include the company's lightweight handle, and three single-ended probe marking styles are available.

Planmeca offers entry-level milling unit

Dental equipment manufacturer Planmeca has introduced an entry-level milling unit, the PlanMill 30 S.

The milling unit is a high-speed, single-spindle unit for the chairside fabrication of metal-free appliances and restorations. It has a fixed tool changer for three tools and a rotary axis for milling blocks.

The PlanMill 30 S is expected to be available later in 2017.

RecordLinc releases implant case management module

RecordLinc has released a new implant case management module.

The RecordLinc implant case management system (RIMS) is web-based and replaces the iConfident dental implant case management system. The new system allows offices to streamline implant case management, obtain the right implant and restorative parts, and share case information.
