Dentist accused of prescribing pills to herself gives up license

A dentist in Virginia accused of using an alias to illegally prescribe thousands of pain pills to herself and family members has permanently surrendered her dental license, according to the Virginia Board of Dentistry.

Dr. Christina Mills, who owns a practice in Culpeper, VA, agreed to give up her license after an investigation revealed that she used her maiden name to prescribe and receive more than 2,200 Percocet pills, 126 Vicodin pills, 930 Adderall pills, 860 Xanax pills, and 269 schedule II narcotic pills beginning in January 2016.

In November, the state dental board suspended Mills' license after allegedly prescribing controlled substances to herself and her family members. At the time, the board said she posed a "substantial danger" to the public.

When her alleged conduct was first investigated, Mills told investigators that "Christina Gimbel" -- the name she reportedly used to fill the prescriptions -- was a patient. Furthermore, she claimed that the prescriptions for three other adults were the children of Gimbel and not her own children, according to the state.

Additionally, Mills allegedly documented 26 dates of service where she or a dental hygienist performed treatment on Christina Gimbel. Eventually, Milled purportedly admitted that she was Gimbel and she used the name to create false patient records.
