NCOHF honors UCSF pediatric dental program

The National Children's Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF) has named the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry's Division of Pediatric Dentistry as its 2011 affiliate of the year.

The Affiliate of the Year Award is presented annually to a member of the NCOHF affiliate network in recognition of exemplary commitment to eliminating pediatric dental disease in their community. As part of this affiliate network, the NCOHF has provided UCSF with more than $165,000 to date in financial and product support to aid in the school's efforts to deliver oral health services to underserved children.

Under the leadership of Brent Lin, DMD, and Pamela Den Besten, DDS, the UCSF School of Dentistry ensures at-risk families throughout the San Francisco Bay Area have access to comprehensive oral healthcare, NCOHF noted. The UCSF School of Dentistry employs NCOHF programs such as Students United for America's Toothfairy, Tomorrow's Smiles, and Train the Trainer to provide these families with educational, preventive, and restorative services.
