The West Virginia University (WVU) School of Dentistry is offering the state’s first residency in pediatric dentistry program.

The school’s pediatric dentistry department recently received initial approval for the two-year program from the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Enrollment starts in July 2024. Students who complete the program will be awarded a certificate of specialty training in pediatric dentistry and will meet the advanced eligibility requirements set by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

The new program will support the university’s land-grant mission to advance education and healthcare in West Virginia by expanding the reach of specialized dentists to its youngest residents.
