The University of Maryland School of Dentistry has named Mark Reynolds, DDS, PhD, as its interim dean.
Beginning July 15, Dr. Reynolds will take the reins from Christian Stohler, DMD, DrMedDent, who has served as dean since 2003, the university noted in a news release.
Dr. Stohler has been appointed dean of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and senior vice president of Columbia University Medical Center of Dental Medicine. He will take over those positions August 1.
Dr. Reynolds joined the University of Maryland in 1996 as an assistant professor in the department of oral and maxillofacial pathology and periodontics. Since 2001, he has served as director of the advanced dental education program in periodontics, and since 2005 he has served as chair of the department of periodontics.
Dr. Reynolds will serve as interim dean until a national search is concluded and a new dean has been named.
