The Marquette University School of Dentistry (MUSoD) has received a $1.37 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to create the Open Dental Education Consortium (ODEC).
Partnering with Chippewa Valley Technical College, Milwaukee Area Technical College, and Brigham Young University, ODEC aims to standardize dental education, reduce tuition costs, and promote open educational resources (OER).
Faculty will be trained and paired with graduate instructional designers to develop and adopt OER for courses, with a goal of converting 25% of curricula to open models within three years. This initiative is expected to save at least 530 students $1,000 each.
