Dental equipment manufacturer Dentsply Sirona has named Simon Campion as the company's new president and CEO, effective September 12.
Campion joins Dentsply Sirona from Becton Dickinson (BD), where he most recently served as executive vice president and president of the company's medical segment. Before that, Campion was president of BD's interventional segment, following its acquisition of C. R. Bard.
Campion will join the company's board of directors. He succeeds John Groetelaars, who has served as interim CEO since April 2022 and who will continue to serve on the board. With the hiring of Campion, Dentsply Sirona's board has requested a full review of its business and operations, including its competitive positioning and portfolio, margin enhancement opportunities, and capital structure, company representatives said.
Campion received a bachelor's degree in engineering and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Limerick in Ireland and a master's degree in business administration from Open University in the U.K.
