The California Dental Association (CDA) has canceled its spring scientific session, scheduled for May 14-16 in Anaheim, CA.

"The health and safety of our greater dental community is always CDA's highest priority, and we did not make this decision lightly. It was informed by recent guidance issued by the World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to cancel all gatherings of 50 people or more for the next eight weeks, as well as Governor Newsom's recent order on mass gatherings in California," the CDA said in a statement posted on its website on Thursday.

Among other notes in the CDA announcement:

  • All meeting registration fees will be automatically refunded within 60 days. No action or request is needed from attendees.
  • For attendees who booked within CDA's room block, CDA will cancel hotel reservations, and no action is needed. If reservations were not made through CDA's room block, contact the hotel directly.
  • The CDA is preparing for its convention in San Francisco this fall, September 10-12, with plans to expand programming.
