Dr. Frank Andolino to receive ADA Humanitarian Award

Frank Andolino II, DDS, will receive the 2016 ADA Humanitarian Award for his volunteer work, including providing dental care to remote Tanzanian villages.

Dr. Andolino, a New York City orthodontist, co-founded Kageno, a nonprofit operating community development projects in Kenya and Rwanda, according to an ADA News story.

He has also worked with the nonprofit Heath Volunteers Overseas teaching health care professionals in Vietnam, Cambodia, Sierra Leone, and Nepal, and also served as the nonprofit's program director in Tanzania.

"As a privileged American, it's my responsibility to help others," Dr. Andolino is quoted in the ADA News story. "If we all played a small part in helping those less fortunate, this planet would be a substantially more balanced and healthy place for everyone."

Dr. Andolino will be honored at the ADA 2016 meeting in Denver in October. As part of the award, he will receive a $10,000 donation to the charity of his choice, which he said would go to the Kageno program.
