Campaign urges careful imaging; Levin on handoffs; voting ends soon for Excellence Awards

The upcoming Image Gently in Dentistry campaign reminds dentists that children are more sensitive to ionizing radiation than adults. Anywhere a number of people work together as a team, every person has assigned tasks, all of which are combined to get the desired organizational results. There are inevitably transitions from one area of responsibility to another. These "handoffs" are critical points. For the sake of office efficiency, productivity, and patient satisfaction, they must be as smooth as possible, according to Dr. Roger P. Levin.

Mouse models of human oral cancer treated with capsazepine showed dramatic tumor shrinkage without damage to surrounding tissues, according to a study in Oral Oncology. Capsazepine's anticancer effects may stem from its ability to increase oxidative damage in tumors, Texas researchers said. Read more here.
