The Dental Auxiliary Learning and Education (DALE) Foundation has launched the Liz Koch Memorial scholarship.
Koch joined the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) in 2001 before becoming chief operating officer in 2006, according to the foundation. She died in 2011.
In addition to her role at DANB, Koch was instrumental in establishing the DALE Foundation, the official DANB affiliate.
"Liz had the ability to accept you for who you are and to see what you had the capacity to become," said Cindy Durley, MEd, MBA, executive director of DANB and the DALE Foundation, in a press release. "The Liz Koch Memorial Scholarship is a true legacy to her commitment to mentoring others and her passion for lifelong learning."
The scholarship is intended to help oral healthcare professionals reach their professional development goals and support their mentorship activities. It is open to all dental assistants, those with DANB certification and other oral healthcare professionals.
Winners will receive between $250 and $1,000, plus access to three continuing education products of their choice from the DALE Foundation catalog. Winners will be chosen based on their interest in and commitment to the oral healthcare profession, as well as mentorship experiences.
