United Planet, a nonprofit that offers intern and volunteer international programs, is accepting applications for medical and dental projects from students and professionals interested in volunteering abroad from one week to one year.
United Planet enables dental and medical students and professionals to volunteer in parts of the world that lack sufficient healthcare resources, the organization noted in a press release.
In addition to providing support for communities in need, United Planet's volunteer and internship abroad programs combine volunteering, language learning, cultural activities, home stays, and excursions.
Healthcare professionals and students participate in various projects, including HIV/AIDS awareness, outreach education, and home-based care; dental care; patient care in pediatric hospitals and clinics; and psychological treatment for abused women and children. People without medical backgrounds also may volunteer in health-related projects.
