The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) has named John Thorner as its new executive director and CEO.
Thorner has 25 years of association management experience, noted AGD President Jeffrey M. Cole, DDS.
Thorner previously served as executive vice president of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, where he grew membership 14% and increased revenue 58% during his four-and-a-half-year tenure, according to the AGD. He also served as founding president of the Anesthesia Quality Institute, an organization dedicated to compiling patient safety data.
Thorner received his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, a Master of Science in journalism from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in history/political science from Duke University.
