Young Innovations Q2 sales top $28M

Young Innovations is reporting record sales for the second quarter of 2012 (end-June 30).

Sales for the quarter were $28.1 million, an increase of 2.7% over the $27.3 million reported for the second quarter of 2011. Net income for the quarter increased 8.4% to $4.4 million from $4.0 million for the second quarter of 2011.

The company credited strong growth of its diagnostic product line and solid demand for its consumable products for the overall increase, but noted that a stronger U.S. dollar negatively impacted sales in the second quarter by $217,000.

Young Innovations' consumables include disposable and metal prophy angles, prophy cups and brushes, dental microapplicators, moisture control products, infection control products, dental handpieces and related components, endodontic systems, orthodontic toothbrushes, flavored examination gloves, children's toothbrushes, and children's toothpastes. The company's diagnostic products include panoramic x-ray machines and related supplies.
