The scheduling coordinator's job is to guide the patient into the most appropriate time slots suitable for both the patient and the office. In addition, it is the coordinator's responsibility to run each morning meeting and discuss any scheduling-related issues. The team is then responsible to meet or exceed the production goals.

Hire the right person for the job. The ideal scheduling coordinator should be capable of handling multiple tasks at one time, while maintaining an upbeat, friendly attitude. If the wrong person is in this position, the practice and the patients will suffer.

Don't let patients run the schedule. Scheduling coordinators will always try to accommodate the wishes of their patients. However, compromises must be reached to keep the schedule from being unmanageable. Enforce office policies with patients regarding the schedule politely but firmly.
