Clinic launches India's first dental stem cell bank

India now has its first dental stem cell bank, Store Your Cells. The service was started by dentists at Dhruv Polyclinic in Mumbai, under the direction of Kedar Gadgil, an implant dentist practicing in London, Kent, and Mumbai.

Dhruv Polyclinic has dentists and pediatricians with international experience, according to the clinic. Stem cells are obtained painlessly from teeth that are about to fall out or are to be extracted, and isolated and stored in a lab for as long as required.

The laboratory's processing and quality control procedures are accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), FDA-registered and -compliant, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)-certified, and licensed by the departments of health in New York, Massachusetts, and California, the clinic said.
