Red Flags deadline looms again; are dentists using curing lights correctly?

The ADA is once again lobbying the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to delay implementation of the Red Flags identify theft rules, slated to take effect June 1.

The ADA is trying to buy time so it can work with the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs to craft new language that would exempt dentists from the rules -- similar to what the association was able to achieve with the financial reform bill. Read more.

In clinical news, a Canadian study presented at the American Association for Dental Research conference suggests that dentists often misuse curing lights, either over- or undercooking their restorations.
