Midmark has aligned its Integra Dental Casework product attributes with the LEED Green Building Rating System to help its customers obtain LEED credits for their green building projects.
Administered and developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a nonprofit group of building industry leaders, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is an internationally recognized, third-party certification, Midmark explained in a press release. LEED certification was designed to accelerate the adoption of green building, promote design and construction practices with increased profitability, reduce negative environmental impact, and improve occupant well-being.
"While there are costs associated with providing a sustainable, 'green' product, we felt that this was the right thing to do for our customers," said Eric Shirley, vice president and general manager, dental division, in the release. "Being 'green' is about more than just saving the environment; it's about providing our customers with solutions that will enhance the patient experience and create a healthier, more efficient work environment. We have committed to doing this for our customers without passing any of the additional costs onto them."
LEED promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. The use of Midmark Integra Dental Casework can contribute to specifier strategies and LEED credits that impact building certification, including water efficiency, construction waste management, material reuse, recycled content, local/regional materials, low emitting materials, and innovation in design, the company said.
