Louisiana sets mobile dentistry rules; more peroxide doesn't mean whiter teeth

Following months of often-heated debate in the state Legislature, the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry this week published rules governing the use of mobile dentistry. Foremost among the new regulations: a requirement that, when working with pediatric patients, mobile dentists talk to the children's guardians before treating them. Read more.

In clinical news, a study in this month's Journal of the American Dental Association concludes that a higher concentration of carbamide peroxide in dentist-supervised at-home bleaching kits does not yield better tooth-whitening results.

And the debate between endodontists and implant specialists over root canals versus implants as the optimum treatment for troubled teeth doesn't appear to be ending any time soon.
