U.S. Navy mission provides 7 nations with dental care

Seven nations received dental and medical care on a recent four-month humanitarian mission by the U.S. Navy, according to an ADA News article.

The Continuing Promise 2009 mission focused on Central and South America and the Caribbean. The team included personnel from the U.S. military, partner nation militaries, nongovernmental organizations, U.S. government agencies, and Military Sealift Command.

The mission provided dental services in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Antigua, Barbuda, Panama, Colombia, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, treating more than 20,000 patients and providing more than 40,000 dental procedures with $2.7 million worth of dentistry, according to the story.
