The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recently released its final research plan on oral health screening, referral, behavioral counseling, and preventive interventions.
The recommendations include screening for oral health and interventions to prevent oral health issues in children and adults.
The review will focus on the oral health conditions of dental caries and periodontitis. Dental x-rays are not addressed because they are not typically obtained in primary care settings or ordered by primary care clinicians, according to the agency.
