Dental research and manufacturing company Pulpdent has unveiled a new white dental filling material that imitates the properties of natural teeth.
Described as "squirt and shoot" technology, Activa Presto is a stackable composite that holds its shape and doesn't slump. The moisture-friendly resin in the material facilitates the diffusion of bioavailable calcium, phosphate, and fluoride ions, just like a tooth. The material contains a rubberized resin that absorbs stress and resists wear and chipping, even in thin areas, according to the company.
Since the material penetrates and integrates with tooth structures, it allows for margin-free adaptation, according to Pulpdent.
The high-strength material, which contains no bisphenol A glycidyl methacrylate (bis-GMA), bisphenol A (BPA), or BPA derivatives, is available for all cavity classes in a variety of shades. Activa Presto can be purchased at major dental dealers in the U.S.
