A survey of U.K. parents revealed that 79% wait until their children are older than a year old before taking them to the dentist and 5% wait until their children turn 5.
Of the different age groups surveyed, less than half of the 18- to 34-year-olds with children younger than 16 (47%) take their children to the dentist every six months, compared with 75% of the older than 45 age group.
Of those parents who say they have not taken their children to the dentist (10%), the highest rate comes from the South with 15% of parents, followed by the East at 14% and London at 11%.
The online survey was conducted January 14-23, 2013, by YouGov on behalf of Denplan. The total sample size was 4,116 adults. The figures have been weighted and are representative of all U.K. adults (age 18 and older), according to Denplan.
