Clinical tip: Burs and better endodontics in your dental practice

How can a Sharpie help you with your endodontic skills? Dr. Diwakar Kinra is here with the latest clinical tip courtesy of CDOCS.

In the below video, Dr. Kinra discusses the importance of choosing the right access bur and then using it in the most efficient way.

"There are a lot of different access burs that are out there, but I try to minimize the amount of work that I actually need to do in my practice, so I try to have really one access bur that can kind of do everything," Dr. Kinra explained.

And where does the Sharpie come into play in your endodontic routine? Dr. Kinra believes one black mark serves as a very important reminder.

"So what I usually do, and if you're a novice at this, what I would do is take this bur right here and put a little Sharpie mark on it," Dr. Kinra said. "Put it right at six or eight millimeters and that way, you'll know when you should be in the pulp chamber. That's my little trick to you to get into that access and make it easy and quick ... and that way, you know you're safe."
