MacPractice previewed MacPractice DDS 5.1 at the recent Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM).

This new version, which will debut in the first quarter of 2015, will emphasize dental-specific enhancements in all clinical charting functions and fully integrated online patient services, according to the company. Other new features in MacPractice 5.1 include integrated fax, HIPAA-secure messaging doctor to doctor and also patient to doctor, ICD-10 capability, and government-proscribed data security.

"We have studied the competition carefully, and we believe MacPractice 5.1 will be the best dental charting and clinical software," stated Mark Hollis, MacPractice co-founder and CEO, in a press release.

MacPractice DDS 5 and v.5.1 are compatible with Yosemite and Mavericks and interoperate with MacPractice's iOS 8-compatible Patient Check In, Clipboard, and iEHR apps for iPad, as well MacPractice Interfaces for iPad with ePrescribe and MacPractice Interface for iPhone.

The company also announced that purchasers of MacPractice DDS 5 receive $500 or $1,000 off for an electronic health record (EHR) "trade-up" until December 31, 2014.
