Dentistry is constantly changing. There’s more competition … patients have different expectations than in the past … younger staff members want different things from their job than their older colleagues … and new technologies continue to create opportunities and disruption. As the practice owner, you need to add new business and leadership skills to succeed in today’s ever-changing dental economy.
Make business learning a priority. Soak in as much knowledge as you can by reading articles, taking courses, and attending seminars on practice management and marketing. Just as you continually update your clinical skills, you must do the same regarding your business skills.
Don’t ignore your team’s educational needs. If you want your practice to operate smoothly, staff members also need to learn new management and marketing skills. A well-trained team is critical for achieving practice goals in this new, more competitive era.
