On-demand dental staffing platform Toothio has raised $4 million in seed investments to accelerate its growth.
The company, which aims to address shifts in the dental labor market, will use the funds to enhance technology, add to its sales team, and expand into key markets in the U.S. Toothio, which connects credentialed dental hygienists, assistants, and receptionists with dental practices, plans to increase access to thousands of practices, professionals, and DSOs by the end of 2023.
To advance its growth, Toothio has appointed Keith Clements as its chief commercial officer. Clements led sales at Young Innovations, developing its dental service organization (DSO) business and playing a key role in integrating acquisitions. Clements previously served as vice president of sales at Dentsply Sirona.
In May, survey results from the ADA Health Policy Institute revealed that dentists are still challenged hiring dental hygienists and assistants. Dentists have struggled to hire these key dental professionals since they have attempted to recover from the pandemic, which began in 2020.
