Make your monthly business reviews matter

Held every four to six weeks, monthly business reviews serve a critical function by identifying bottlenecks and finding solutions, which lead to improved practice productivity, reduced stress, and greater efficiency. These meetings are the appropriate venue for minor training, role-playing with scripts, and addressing any staff conflict as well.

Do

Be organized and efficient. Meetings should be scheduled 12 months in advance. Have a written agenda, a meeting leader (usually the dentist) and an assigned note taker. Focus the team on brainstorming solutions, not airing complaints.

Don

Don't let the meeting start or run late. This cannot be stressed enough. When meetings fail to begin or end on time, team members don't look forward to the next one because they anticipate the same thing happening again. Show your team respect by starting and ending the meeting as scheduled.
