Dentist indicted on multiple counts of felony fraud

A dentist in Georgia has been indicted on multiple felony counts of Medicaid fraud and other offenses for allegedly receiving $40,000 in reimbursements for dental services he never performed, according to an indictment.

Dr. Farid Moghaddam, 48, who operates North Cumming Dentistry in Cumming, GA, is charged with four counts of Medicaid fraud and 11 counts of false writings, according to a press release dated August 15 from the Georgia Office of the Attorney General. The practice was formerly known as Family and Cosmetic Dentistry – Dr. Farid Moghaddam.

Between 2016 and 2022, Moghaddam reportedly submitted fraudulent claims to the Georgia Medicaid program for incision and drainage of abscesses for four patients that were not completed. Additionally, the dentist purportedly made false statements about procedures.

The reimbursements the Atlanta resident received ranged from $6,700 to $14,000 and totaled approximately $40,000, according to the indictment dated July 8.
