This week, the DrBicuspid.com team descended onto the Windy City to share highlights from the Chicago Dental Society 2023 Midwinter Meeting with our readers.
While the showroom floor was packed with a whopping 20,000-plus attendees, including approximately 5,100 vendors, our team brought you the latest on everything from new dental products to ways of improving access to care. In our top story, I interviewed two industry leaders about the barriers to dental care and how dentistry can work together to get more patients to the clinic and deliver care.
Also, Tija Hunter, a certified dental assistant in Illinois and a presenter at the Midwinter Meeting, discussed what practices need to know about dental office maintenance to stay in tiptop shape.
Did you know that taking emotive dental photos, which can make or break a practice, doesn't have to break the bank? Dr. Miles Cone, who runs a private practice in Maine and who was also a presenter at the Midwinter Meeting, explained that producing quality dental photos neither requires expensive equipment nor additional training with photo-editing software.
In other news, a new case report revealed that weeks after the placement of clear aligners, a woman had transient apical breakdown, a sequelae of dental trauma, that may have led to a purplish discoloration in a tooth that didn't respond to pulp tests.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced this week that an endodontist in Oregon was sentenced to nearly six years in prison for his role in attempting to steal more than $170 million in U.S. COVID-19 relief funds. The clinician also must pay $10.5 million in restitution.
