The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is now reimbursing healthcare providers for administering COVID-19 vaccines to underinsured patients, according to a news story published on May 17 by ADA News.

Under a program announced on May 3 by the HHS Health Resources and Services Administration, healthcare providers will receive reimbursement to cover the costs of administering COVID-19 vaccines to patients enrolled in health plans that either don't cover vaccination fees or cover them with patient cost-sharing, according to the ADA.

The association said that the COVID-19 Coverage Assistance Fund will accept eligible claims from providers dated on or after December 14, 2020. Claims must be submitted electronically and are subject to available funding.
