The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has sued a dental practice based in Harrisburg, PA, for violating the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967.
Capital City Dental Care was purchased in August 2015. The new owner then fired eight of the nine dental hygienists who were older than 40 years at the practice's Camp Hill, PA, location between September and November 2015, according to the EEOC. No prior notice or reason for the termination was provided. The hygienists were replaced by 14 employees, 13 younger than 40 years.
If prelitigation settlement talks are not successful, the suit will be heard in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
