Birner reports decreased Q2 revenue, earnings

Birner Dental Management Services reported a decrease in revenue and earnings for the second quarter of 2017.

For the quarter (end-June 30), the company reported revenues of $14.8 million, down 7% from the second quarter in 2016. Birner's net loss for the quarter grew to $901,000, compared with a net loss of $230,000 in the same quarter last year.

This is the fifth consecutive quarter that Birner has reported a loss in earnings and revenue. The company attributed the loss to fewer dentists practicing in the network with 99 dentists practicing in June 2017 from 112 in March 2016. Since June, the dentist count has increased to 105, the company noted.

Furthermore, the company received notice that its almost $9 million in debts are immediately due. Birner is looking into solutions, according to the company.

Birner currently manages 68 dental offices in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona under the Perfect Teeth name.
