ND midlevel provider bill fails

North Dakota lawmakers have once again voted against a bill to allow midlevel providers to practice in the state.

The state House bill, HB 1256, was introduced by Sen. Bill Devlin (R-Finley) and would have allowed licensed dental therapists to practice in North Dakota. The state House of Representatives voted against the bill 59-32 on February 8.

This is the second time a midlevel provider bill has failed to pass in the state Legislature. In 2015, lawmakers voted against a bill that would have allowed certified advanced dental hygienists to perform some dental procedures under a dentist's supervision.
