WFMY-TV out of Greensboro, NC, recently devoted its weekly segment on science experiments to creating "tooth decay in a jar" as a way to help its younger viewers understand the importance of oral health.

Using three jars with lids, three brown hard-boiled eggs, orange juice, cola, and water, the News 2 Science Geeks showed how sugars and acids can erode enamel on teeth. The eggs were used to simulate teeth.

After showing the experiment, the conclusion from the News 2 Science Geeks to their young audience was simple: "Listen to your mom and dad when they tell you to brush your teeth!"
