CDC gives $3M for chronic disease, oral health efforts

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded a total of $3 million to six states to improve collaborations between chronic disease and oral health programs.

Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, and New York will each receive $500,000 over the next two years to help their oral health departments develop programs to improve the oral health of their residents, according to a CDC announcement. The effort will also work to prevent and control chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as related risk factors such as tobacco use and obesity.
