The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given 510(k) clearance to Glidewell's Prismatik Dentalcraft to promote the antimicrobial properties of its 3DP Denture Base Resin.
The resin uses silver sodium hydrogen zirconium phosphate as its antimicrobial agent. In lab tests, dentures made from this resin showed a greater than 99.9% reduction in bacteria and fungi that commonly cause contamination, according to the company.
