A-State gets $1.7M to study tooth decay

Robert Shields, PhD, a microbiology professor at Arkansas State University (A-State), has secured a $1.77 million grant to study the causes and effects of tooth decay.

Over five years, Shields and his team will explore the molecular mechanisms behind tooth decay pathogens. The grant, which is provided by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, will cover research expenses, including chemical reagents and conference travel.
