The new School of Dental Medicine at High Point University (HPU) in High Point, NC, is being named after Dr. Rick Workman, the founder of dental office chain Heartland Dental.
The Workmans donated $32 million to the school from the Rick and Angie Workman Foundation. Workman is also currently HPU's dental innovator in residence.
Set to open in the fall of 2023, the Workman School of Dental Medicine will be based in a new 80,000-sq-ft building on HPU's Innovation Corridor, according to the university. Dr. Scott De Rossi will serve as the founding dean for the dental program, which will have a capacity for 40 new students.
