N. Calif. college reinstates dental hygiene program

A Northern California community college will reinstate its dental hygiene program following a $100,000 gift from an alumnus.

Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA, can now admit 22 students this fall and retain its 14 part-time faculty, according to a santacruzsentinel.com story.

The two-year program is the college's most expensive, due to a 5-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio mandated by its accrediting board.

The donation came from Richard and Theresa Crocker; Ms. Crocker graduated from Cabrillo's dental hygiene program.

The school also plans to add dental assisting courses.
