Ga. dental office manager charged with embezzling $2M

An office manager for a Sandy Springs, GA, dentist has been charged with stealing more than $2 million from the practice.

Rosemary D'Souza, who worked at TLC Dental, secretly boosted her salary to more than $800,000 and paid more than $600,000 to her husband, Joseph, and more than $83,000 to her daughter, Karen, according to a news reports.

The alleged thefts took place between 2009 and 2013. Police said word of D'Souza owning two homes in Florida triggered a check of the company's books and revealed the embezzlement.

Roger Abbott of Dental, DMD, TLC's owner, said it seemed as if there was never enough money for staff raises or needed equipment.
