With the aid of a $1 million grant, the Bois Forte Band in Minnesota is set to build a dental and medical clinic on the Lake Vermilion area of the Chippewa reservation, according to an article in the Duluth News Tribune.
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community in Prior Lake, MN, is responsible for the grant. It is one of two grants of $1 million the Sioux community has committed to the 10,500-sq-ft project.
The combined cost of constructing the new building and converting the existing Vermilion Community Center into tribal government offices is estimated at $4 million, half of which will be paid by the Indian Health Service.
