Univ. of Arkansas to establish dental school

Arkansas is one of 14 states without its own dental program, but that may be changing soon.

The University of Arkansas is taking steps to establish a dental school at its Little Rock campus, according to a blog post in the Carroll County News.

The university has received large sums of money from foundations to expand teaching at its school of dental hygiene and oral health clinics, and the goal is to eventually have its own school of dentistry, according to the post.

The director of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Center for Dental Education said it would take at least five years of preparation to establish a dentistry program.
