Carbolite launches flame-free heater

Carbolite has introduced SafeAir Heatstream, a flame-free heat source that offers dentists improved safety for prosthodontics modeling and fitting work.

The heat source can heat dental wax, modeling tools, and rim formers, as well as soften thermoplastic impression materials for registration trays used to form and fit a patient's dentures, according to the company.

The design provides a safer device for use by dentists who routinely wear rubber and plastic gloves during the styling and fitting of dentures, Carbolite noted.

The device is silent in operation and heats modeling tools and wax quicker due to its low thermal mass construction. Most users of the older style SafeAir models tended to improvise some means of catching wax drips, Carbolite said. The new design incorporates a built-in drip tray featuring a removable stainless steel liner, making it much cleaner to use.
