Dentists needed for rural Penn. clinic

Officials in a small town in southwestern Pennsylvania are searching for dentists to treat some 500 people in desperate need of dental care at a local clinic.

Although the Johnstown Free Medical Clinic has funding, the clinic has yet to mobilize because there is only one dentist to perform the work, according to a story by WJAC-TV.

"We compiled a list of about 100 dentists in the area and started calling them," clinic spokeswoman Cathy Kist told WJAC. For the first 25% of dentists called, the clinic received responses of "no" for helping it address the problem.

Currently, the clinic has one dentist who is pitching in: John Ridella, D.M.D., who has helped dozens of patients without insurance, WJAC reported.
