Should you expand?
Many dentists have more than one office. This is especially true of dentists who have been in practice for some time. The question is: Should you have more than one office?
Determine the necessity. Is there a need? Many dentists say their "overloaded" schedules demand a second location, but often their practices are actually performing below capacity due to inefficiency. It's also possible a second location is desirable if your primary location is not performing to your expectations. Whichever the case may be, be certain a second location is the right choice.
Don't create, then basically ignore a second location. Many satellite offices perform poorly because they don't get enough attention. The second location is often perceived differently from the main location and receives "second-class" status as a result. Clearly, if you do not give the second office the attention it needs, the odds of it growing are slim. Never venture into a business arena where you are not fully committed to doing what it takes to succeed.
