UNC awards $87M contract for new dental building

The University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill has awarded KBR, a global engineering, construction, and services company, an $87 million contract for the construction of the new Dental Sciences Building for the School of Dentistry.

The five-story, 216,000-sq-ft building will include academic, research, preclinical, and administrative spaces. Two existing buildings have been demolished at the site, and renovations to three existing buildings are taking place during construction of the new facility.

Construction on the project is currently under way and completion is scheduled for January 2012.
