Actress helps promote Crest Glide and food banks

Alison Sweeney, host of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" and actress on NBC's "Days of our Lives," has joined a campaign in which Procter and Gamble will donate money to Feeding America food banks.

The company is staging Crest Glide Tight Space Challenge events this month in Los Angeles and New York.

Sweeney will encourage the crowd to show their prowess at sliding and gliding through a specially designed Tight Spaces obstacle course. For every person who participates in the Tight Spaces Challenge events, Procter and Gamble will donate $1 to Feeding America.

Additionally, the company is encouraging others to tweet about tight spaces on Twitter. Consumers are asked to tell the company about the "Tight Spaces" in their lives using the hashtag #GlideTightSpaces. For every person who tweets with the hashtag #GlideTightSpaces through December 31, 2009, Procter and Gamble will donate $1 to Feeding America.

Procter and Gamble will make a guaranteed donation of $20,000 to help ensure families across America will have food on the table this holiday season.

The Tight Spaces Challenges will be held:

  • New York City: Tuesday, November 10, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Southwest Plaza of Union Square, Manhattan
  • Los Angeles: Saturday, November 21, 2009, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the center court of Hollywood and Highland

Feeding America, formerly known as America's Second Harvest, runs a network of more than 200 food banks serving all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, securing and distributing more than 2.5 billion pounds of food and grocery products annually.
