Intermountain Healthcare is donating $100,000 to the nonprofit Sealants for Smiles to increase access to oral health education and preventive dental services for at-risk children in Utah.
The donation will be used at 30 schools in 2013, according to the organization. The contribution will provide examinations by a licensed Utah dentist, fluoride varnish, and dental sealants to all children. The money will also expand services to elementary schools with greater than 50% enrollment in free or reduced school lunch programs.
The organization uses portable dental units in schools to provide free services, including oral health education, screenings, and exams by licensed Utah professionals and fluoride varnish for all children.
