An Atlanta dentist has invented a pressure-washing device for teeth and periodontal tissue called CLEARsmile, and now he is raising money to bring it to market.
CLEARsmile uses a mouthpiece and microbubble tablets to blast and dissolve bad dental bacteria while cleaning the oral cavity at different angles simultaneously, making it ideal for users with braces, noted inventor Igor Reizenson, DDS, in a press release.
Dr. Reizenson participated in the 2007 Inventor's Challenge hosted by the History Channel's "Modern Marvels" television show. Out of 2,500 applicants, CLEARsmile was one of 25 chosen. Since then, Dr. Reizenson has continued to develop his invention.
According to a study done by a Harvard Business graduate, getting CLEARsmile to the prototype stage will cost about $750,000. To raise the funds, Dr. Reizenson is using the crowdfunding site Indiegogo.com.
Dr. Reizenson has a number of incentives set up to encourage donations, ranging from having a name on the CLEARsmile website to a vacation for two to Atlanta. His campaign can be found at Indiegogo.com.
